General FAQs

What is Invisalign®?

The Invisalign® system is the clear way to straighten your teeth and give you the smile you have always wanted.  It uses advanced, 3D computer-imaging technology to create your whole treatment plan from where your teeth are now to where they need to be.

Clear aligners are custom made for your teeth.  Dr. Beetham will provide a custom treatment plan from which the aligners are fabricated. Every week, you will get new aligners which will move your teeth a little bit more until we achieve the desired result.

Since each mouth is different, treatment times will vary depending on your needs.

How does Invisalign work?

You wear each set of aligners for one week, removing them only to eat, drink, brush, and floss. As you replace each aligner with the next in the series, your teeth will move — little by little, week by week — until they have straightened to their final positions.

With Invisalign treatment, fewer appointments at our office will be required, and generally, your appointment time should be shorter. On average with Invisalign treatment at Beetham Family & Cosmetic Dentistry, appointments are needed every 10 weeks. These periodic visits are quick and easy since there are no brackets or wires that would need adjusting. Each visit, Dr. Beetham will evaluate your bite to ensure that your teeth are moving on track.

How long is Invisalign worn?

The length of Invisalign treatment will vary and depend on each patient. Typically, aligners are worn 20 to 22 hours a day (take them out only to eat, brush, and floss) on average up to 12 months.

At your consultation appointment, we will let you know how long your treatment will take before you decide to get started.

How Do I Care For My Invisalign Aligners?

To care for your Invisalign aligners, remove the aligners whenever you sit down for a meal and make sure to brush your teeth and the aligners thoroughly before putting them back on. Likewise, the Invisalign cleaning system is available that uses a series of specialized cleaning crystals to help make things even easier.

Will Invisalign® fit my lifestyle?

Many people don’t want braces because of the inconvenience. The aligners are removable so you can take them out and eat whatever you want. You can also take them out to brush your teeth so that you don’t have to worry about missing any spots. This will keep your teeth healthy through your entire treatment.

You can still do whatever you want when you wear your Invisalign® aligners. You can go to fancy places and no one will know. You can still work, go to school, play sports, and do whatever else you enjoy doing. You can even smile without worrying about others noticing your braces. They won’t even know.

What are the benefits of Invisalign®?

Since Invisalign® is clear, you can get the results you deserve without anyone even knowing you are getting treated. You can still perform all of your normal daily tasks while simultaneously working on your smile.

You can also remove the aligners when you eat so you can still eat whatever you want. You also don’t have to worry about your oral health. You can remove the aligners whenever you brush and floss your teeth.

Invisalign® is also more comfortable than traditional braces since the aligners are custom made for your mouth. Traditional braces often cause irritation.

Using the latest technology, we can show you exactly where you are and what your smile will look like when you are done. Many people enjoy seeing a visual before they get started.
